ABOUT

Creating an impact by raising vital funds from affordable clothing that cater to people of all ages and sizes.

Rasmachaz has been a go-to destination for people looking for high-quality second-hand clothing for years. However, beyond the great shopping experience we offer, we are also committed to giving back to the community by raising vital funds that support Refugee Community Kitchen who are working on impactful projects around the world.

MEET THE TEAM OF VOLENTEERS

Jed

I started the charity after visiting Calais, where I was shocked by the treatment of people in need. Determined to make a positive impact, I launched a pop-up shop in 2015, which has continued operating ever since. The crisis remains ongoing, though it may receive less media coverage now. The need for hot meals and a sense of community is still very much present.

I absolutely love the shop, the volunteers, and the customers. My passion for fashion also aligns with my commitment to reducing the impact of fast fashion waste by giving clothes a

secon chance. This effort also supports the Refugee Community Kitchen, a project that has made a significant positive impact on many lives.

Paul & Pam

We are Paul and Pam. This is a photo of us when we worked with refugees on the Greek Island of Samos. Also we have worked at the Refugee Kitchen in Calais giving us first hand knowledge of the wonderful organisations Rasmachaz helps.

We have worked with Rasmachaz almost since the shop first opened. A place that has always been filled with amazing, generous donations.

This is a great way to support refugee charities. An added bonus is we get to meet those lovely, interesting people who are our customers.

I think it was in 2016(better check) When the Syrian civil was unfolding and there were thousands of desperate refugees fleeing . We were seeing horrors on the news and I wanted to do something.

One night there was a meeting in the Prince Albert pub where a young Syrian man Hassan Akhad told his story to a packed out & hushed pub. I, like many others were moved to action. Refugee aid Stroud was born. Lots of enthusiastic volunteers self organised and began raising funds to send out to people who were feeding refugees arriving on the Greek islands, and crossing dangerous lands.

When Jed and her friends started a pop up shop in town. I met so many lovely people from working in this lovely family, and the best thing about it is the incredible amount of support from this little town. From the early days right up to now. It makes me so proud of Stroud!

I started volunteering at Rasmachaz because I wanted to do my bit for a good cause with some volunteer work, that I can also fit around being a university student. And, the shop itself is so beautiful, it’s a nice way to relax whilst being out the house!

I'm a retired GP and wanted to do something positive to help the terrible situation that refugees and people in need are facing. By volunteering in the shop I can directly contribute to raising funds for this important cause.
